Epcot’s Coral Reef Restaurant

Epcot’s Coral Reef Restaurant

Imagine dining next to a living coral reef—and 4,000 sea creatures who call it home. That is the experience you can enjoy at the Coral Reef Restaurant in Disney World’s Epcot Center.

From the moment you walk in, you almost feel as if you’re underwater too. There are few straight lines and most things feel very (pardon the pun) fluid. For instance, this set of shelves with blown glass fish displayed on them:

And these light fixtures that look like jellyfish or other organic material floating from the ceiling:

One reason we chose Coral Reef for dinner was because I had watched every episode of Full House (all eight seasons) with my daughter. In the season six episode “The House Meets the Mouse,” Danny Tanner and his girlfriend Vicky dine at the Coral Reef. He attempts to propose to her there, but keeps getting interrupted by Joey and Uncle Jesse, who are swimming around in the tank as part of a radio show promotion.

Sadly, I do not have any stunning pictures of the glass wall through which you can watch fish swimming around while you dine. It was just too dim in there. I will say, however, that they have tiered seating at the Coral Reef. So even if you’re not right next to it (we weren’t), you can still enjoy a great view.

I think quite often when entertainment or ambience is the main feature, we expect the food to be mediocre at best. As with many other WDW restaurants, this was not the case at the Coral Reef. The food was superb! We all thoroughly enjoyed our meal there, even my picky eater.

The Coral Reef Restaurant is located inside The Seas with Nemo and Friends at Epcot Center, 1520 Avenue of the Stars, Orlando, FL 32836. Telephone 407-939-3463. Open for lunch and dinner.
