Knockturn Alley

Knockturn Alley

In the Harry Potter books and movies, Knockturn Alley is a side street off of Diagon Alley that houses shops dedicated to those who practice the dark arts.

In Universal Orlando’s Wizarding World of Harry Potter, it is a dark and quiet area that is easily overlooked. I stumbled upon Knockturn Alley completely by accident, and it offered a welcome break from the heat and the crowds in Diagon Alley. As with other areas of the Harry Potter attractions, there were many wonderful details to take in, such as the undertaker sign above.

Knockturn Alley is also the location for the Borgin & Burkes shop, where you can purchase your very own Death Eater’s mask.

Or perhaps you’re in the market for a shrunken head?

The window displays were fascinating.

And the signs were worth reading.

I’m not into dark/creepy/horror stuff, but I did love going to Knockturn Alley because it was a quiet, cool oasis in the midst of a hot, crowded and noisy place. Don’t overlook it when you go.
