Go to the middle of the bridge, then turn left…

In the town of Zanesville, Ohio, there is a bridge shaped like the letter Y. The bridge spans both the Licking and Muskingum Rivers in downtown Zanesville, Ohio.

Amelia Earhart was quoted as saying, “Zanesville is the easiest recognized city from the air because of the Y- Bridge.”

The first Zanesville Y-Bridge was constructed in 1814. Several replacement bridges (some of them wooden covered bridges) were washed away by serious floods before the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers constructed a series of dams and locks that now regulate the flow of the two rivers. The current concrete and steel bridge is the fifth one, and has been in place since 1984.

The Y Bridge is just off I-70 and State Route 60, on US Hwy 40, where the Licking and Muskingum Rivers intersect. The best view is from the overlook in Putnam Hill Park, on the south side of the bridge.
